Porters Park Golf Club

Porters Park is a wonderful classic parkland course located in rural Hertfordshire which is picturesque as well as being inspiring and challenging.

It was actually founded in 1899 and derives the name from the “Porters” mansion in the grounds of which it was built and it duly became one of the earliest courses to be established on the north side of London. The course layout was influenced by a number of designers in the early days including John Henry ‘JH’ Taylor. Since the late 1990’s the club has invested significantly into course improvements and course management machinery. A brook runs through 9 of the holes providing a natural water hazard and there are ponds on the 11th and 13th holes which are perfect natural havens for abundant wildlife. It can be best described as “A true test of golf in a magnificent setting.” It plays to 5,571 yards from the red tees and is par 73.

The practice and warm up facilities are excellent and include a practice green, practice nets and a short game and bunker area located close to the clubhouse with the two driving and long shot areas being a short walk away across the course.

The clubhouse is a perfect blend of modern and tradition and is kept to the highest standards. Considerable improvements have been made in recent times with great care being taken to maintain the historic features of the building. There are wonderful panoramic views over the golf course so there is no better place to have a well earned drink and a meal after a game of golf or coaching session.

A visit to Porters Park will not disappoint!
