The courses were designed by Hawtree & Son, founder members of the British Institute of Golf Course Architects. The first eighteen holes were opened on 6th June 1989 and the final nine holes in the summer of 1991.

The Golf Academy comprises first class practice facilities incorporating an 11 bay driving range and a short game area with a chipping area with two bunkers and a nine hole putting green.
