Boughton Golf Club
Boughton is a long undulating course which has beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and is located between Faversham and Canterbury. It is a Philip Sparkes designed course and was opened in 1993.
It is challenging for both low and high handicappers. The fairways and greens are generously sized and an excellent drainage system allows play throughout the year. Two ponds have also been incorporated into the course. It plays 5,952 from the red tees and is par 74. There is also a 9 hole par 3 course set in 25 acres of orchards. This allows beginners a good opportunity to experience the feel of playing on an actual golf course as well as offering a good test for more experienced golfers to sharpen their skills.
The clubhouse is large and welcoming and maintains the Kentish tradition as it is has been built in the style of a country barn. The food is both excellent and varied. There is also a lovely outdoor patio with umbrellas and a spike bar.
The practice facilities are super at Boughton and include a 15 bay covered driving range where skill and accuracy can be practiced on the targets provided. The 9 hole putting green allows practice of short, long and faster sloping putts. A bunker has been incorporated into the practice area. The Golf shop is always worth a visit and it is rated as a Callaway Gold Specialist Centre.
Ladies, why not follow your round of golf with a visit to historic Canterbury which is only 15 minutes away. The world famous Cathedral is at the heart of the city as well as St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church. Or perhaps a chilled glass of wine and a light lunch might finish the experience perfectly.
